Life goes like this! « Result #1 on May 22, 2008, 2:06pm »
Up and down, people, up and down.
Right now when it comes to update time I'm on a downward slide (started a new job this week, re-evaluating hefty life circumstances, etc.) so that's why I haven't gotten everything up life I've wanted/hoped to.
But hey! 3 day weekend coming up so I have big plans. Fingers crossed I get that upswing!

We all love side stories because they're really boundless in their possibilities for character development and interaction without the stress and mess of making sure it fits in with the main storyline.
When you (or you and +) have an idea for a side story, please submit the following here as a new thread. The thread should be the title of your story (or TBD if you don't have one yet) and let me know the following:
Cast: (who's in it) Writers: (you/you and your typing army) Timeline: (when this is taking place with respect to the main storyline) Setting: (city, country, cave, forest, etc. just general setting) Summary: (what's the haps? again, general) Purpose: (character development, background clarification, eventual tie-in to main storyline, etc.)
And that's it! I'll check it out and let you know if it's "APPROVED" which I don't see why it wouldn't be, but I want to make sure we're all on the same page and aware what everyone else is doing.
As of right now, I can see 3 Arcs playing out from the storyline twists I have plotted in my own head. Will there be more? You never know; that'd be fantastic. I believe once everyone has a full grip on the world and their characters and everything that's bubbling into this big pot, we'll be able to flesh things out farther than I thought up when I first started it.
Once everyone's "here" we can start planning and we'll start with Arc One (naturally) which will be very exciting and more on the fun side versus the more serious side of the Arcs to come. I know the overall skeletal outline of it (what needs to happen, etc.) but I'm really excited to see what wrenches everyone will throw in.
Voice vs. Face « Result #4 on May 8, 2008, 8:11am »
I had a conversation with a friend the other night that got me thinking. They saw the site and said to hurry up and put the profiles up and I said "OMGIAREAWAREOFTEHPRESSURE!". I explained they weren't fine-tuned yet so I wasn't going to put them up as examples or as complete if they weren't.
Friend: "Why? You have the pictures up for them already." Myself: "Well yeah, but I usually draw my characters before I write them."
And said friend proceeded to ask me if a character comes to life on paper or in my head first and my answer was both. Observe:
1) My character ideas usually pop up from photographic inspiration like if I'll see a face on the street, in a magazine, in a movie, etc. that really grabs me and if a voice and skeletal personality pop into my head that matches it, then I draw. 2) Sometimes they work out and have a really rich background and purpose, sometimes they're just a pretty face. I always keep my pictures but I don't always bring them to life. 3) When I'm happy that I've captured everything, down to the last earlobe, I start writing. 4) Again, sometimes they turn out to be a pretty face with a so-so personality, but not one that holds enough water to be totally fleshed out. So if fleshing them is becoming something I could compare to a dentist visit, they're put out to pasture. 5) Picture, voice, character, personality is all coming together and their profile is complete and perfect per moi. I don't let myself color the pictures until I have absolutely every quirk worked out. It's like a self-reward for getting through the sometimes tedious process of character description.
Anyway, I thought everyone might like to know that this is how I personally write up my characters. I also hope it answers the question of "WHY aren't the profiles up yet?".
Fellow RPGs and Writing Circles « Result #6 on May 4, 2008, 9:48am »
Let's trade! If you have a game or writing circle of your own, please feel free to advertise it here. Just make sure it's a fair deal and we do free pimpage for each other.
When you do post your information, please use this format:
Your Name - RPG/WC Name - Genre - Format - Mini Synopsis - Link -
Being the worry-wart that I am, I want to make sure people have as much information as possible before they apply. So not only do you get the Guide page, you get an F.A.Q. list for each faction.
GENERAL F.A.Q.
1) Who's the GM? What's a GM? A GM, in this case, stands for Game Moderator and Laura (myself) is the woman who goes by said title. I created the game and moderate all workings and troublemakings of the game.
2) Why are there so many supporting characters? Well there are a couple reasons. The first being that having more supporting roles can help flesh out the story and give everyone the opportunity to play more since main characters and main storylines move at a slower pace. The second being that most of the supporting characters won't survive Arc One and I can tell you right now the Sceadu will definitely not survive longer than Arc Three (for reason that don't need to be revealed yet - insert cliche evil laughter here).
3) Wait, so there eventually won't be any supporting characters?! But you said they're important; I'm confused! Settle down, settle down, I meant those particular Supporting babies have a purpose and once they serve it then a NEW set of supporting characters with a new purpose will be introduced. Trust, trust.
4) With all these characters, is there a limit on how many I can play? For the main cast, for now the answer is there's a limit of one per main faction per writer. For supporting cast, that is pretty much unilimited at the moment (within reason, so I can see having 5 but not 100).
More to come...

1) I really want you to draw a portrait/picture of my character! Will you do one for me please? Well I would love to! Just send me a private message and we'll sort out the details. I can't promise I'll whip it out in a day, but I would say a turnaround time of at least two weeks is fair.
"Hi, My Name is _____" « Result #9 on May 2, 2008, 4:21pm »
Well hi! I'm Laura, the GM/BL creator/The Management, etc.
I'm currently on the roster as... well, at the moment all the characters since I'm the only player (lol). So if you think about it, I'm writing this to myself.*
Anyway, my favorite color is black (is too a color!) and I could eat myself into a Twizzler coma.
